(this blog entry was written in January ~ just a little late in posting it ;)
Last night as I was getting ready for bed the song “Just A Little While Longer” by Cory Asbury and his team down at IHOP-KC came on. I started yelling, “YES! YES” because A) I want Jesus to come back and B) it gave words to the ache in my heart for my friends and family that I’m missing… It’s just a little while longer until I see you, it’s just a little while longer and I’ll know you, it’s just a little while longer and we’ll be together.
I’m reading the book Mourning for the Bridegroom by Dana Candler and I’m lovin’ it. What unbelievable timing to be reading this book. It’s all about missing Jesus. It’s all about longing for His return because we know Him, we love Him and we miss Him. Jesus is actually a Man (fully God, fully Man) and He’s coming back to the earth. One day we will be with Him! Thank you, Jesus!
In Dana’s book she writes about how you cannot miss someone that you don’t know. You have to know someone in order to miss their presence and feel the ache in their absence. As I’ve been reading this book I’ve realized time and time again that the reason I ache for my family is because I actually know them and love them. How much more should I and do I ache for Jesus? Do I actually know Him? Do I actually understand His heart? Do I actually ache for Him? Is His absence an issue?
This book (and reading it while away from the people that I love) has caused me to hunger for a greater knowing of who Jesus is. I want to know Him, to love Him and to long for Him like a Bride her Bridegroom. I want to know His heart so intimately!
There’s a part of the song that goes like this:
All I want is just to know Your heart
And would You keep me here
until we’re one
This is the cry of my heart.
That the Lord would keep me where He has me until we’re one.
I never want to go back to the way things were before.
I expectantly await the return of my Bridegroom.
Jesus is coming, friends.
Jesus, the One who calls us His Bride, is coming back for us!
He will have fire in His eyes.
The most beautiful Man ever to have walked the earth is coming back for me and for you!
The Spirit and the Bride say Come Lord Jesus!
Jesus, come quickly!
Make haste, my Beloved!
I miss You!
