I've been reading through and meditating on this Psalm lately and it has been so life-giving to my heart! Yesterday I was struck by the benefits that Jesus has given me through His free gift of salvation. He is so good and I am so blessed!
Psalm 103:2-5
"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none of His benefits;
vs3 Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases;
vs4 Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
vs5 Who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle."
He pardons ALL my sin.
He heals ALL my diseases.
He redeems my soul.
He crowns me with lovingkindness and compassion.
He satisfies my heart.
I find myself constantly needing to remind my heart not to forget His benefits. Continually remembering what He has done, what He is doing and How he feels. He pardons me, He heals me, He redeems, He crowns me, He satisfies me. He is good. Bless the Lord, O my soul!
Jesus didn't have to do any of these things for me. He didn't have to give me salvation. But He wanted to. He could have simply purchased salvation for us and then left it at that. But He went above and beyond just purchasing our salvation, He redeems us. He crowns us! He satisfies us! We serve and love a good, extravagant, abundant, loving God! He isn't aloof or far off. He's near and He's incredibly in love with us.
May your soul (whether strong or weary) be reminded of the abundance and extravagance of our God. Forget not His benefits. Remind your heart again this morning. Remembering will bring life and light to your soul!
