Life in Brazil

Our "Freedom Team" (as one of the Brazilian friends affectionately calls
us) has been in Manaus for approximately one week. We spent our first
few days in two different host homes, three people in each home. We
have been unbelievably blessed by the hospitality and love of our
Brazilian brothers and sisters! We moved into our home in the Red Light
District on Thursday, June 12th and have been working hard to make our
building - which was formerly a brothel - into a sanctuary for the
Lord's presence and a home for our team.
We launched 24/7 prayer and worship in our building on Thursday night
and have been enjoying worshiping Jesus and praying for His Kingdom to
come and His will to be done in this city. It is such an incredible
honour to pray and worship with the Brazilian church. These people are
incredible - so hungry for Jesus, the presence of God, transformation,
freedom and love! I am provoked by their passion and encouraged by
their love and dedication. God is so good! His presence and love truly
transcends cultural and language barriers.

(The view from the second floor of our building. The most notorious
brothel in Manaus is directly across the street, just to the right of
this picture)
Our first evening in the prayer room a man came in off the street
weeping and re-dedicated his life to the Lord. Yesterday a young man
came in and asked to hear about the Gospel. The Lord is moving and Holy
Spirit is drawing hearts. Praise the Lord! With the prayer room
getting built and being established we are getting prepared to start
some outreach training and to intentionally love the women in this area
in a more focused way. One main value for our time here in Manaus is to
love without agenda. We want to lavish the broken
men, women and children in this city with love that has no strings
attached. The way that Jesus loved us when we were steeped in our sin
and dying, so we want to love these people with His pure, holy,
beautiful, transforming love.

(We are praying for the Lord to make the nation of Brazil a
beautiful highway of holiness - Isaiah 35:8 - that brings life and
freedom!)
Please keep us in your prayers! We need desperately need the help,
presence and power of God to accomplish what He has sent us here to do!
Here are some prayer points:
*Safety, peace and protection. Our prayer room is located in a
dangerous area - right where we are supposed to be - but we still need
strength, wisdom for our security staff and the perfect love of God to
cast out all fear.
*Anointing to teach and train the churches in Manaus, giving to them and
receiving from them. We will be teaching them about 24/7 worship and
prayer and training them in outreach with the men, women and children
caught in human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
*Grace, favor, anointing and God's abounding love as we minister to those who are being sexually exploited.
*Desire for holiness and purity in the Brazilian church. That they would love what God loves and hate what He hates.
*Continued provision for this trip, health, unity, joy and sustaining
grace for our team as we minister to God in worship, to each other, to
the church in Manaus and to those on the streets.
We have some specific financial needs for our prayer room
currently. There have been some added expenses for things such as
microphone stands, sound absorbers, guitar strings, etc. If you would
like to give towards our building the house of prayer here in Manaus or
towards our outreach with the women, you can give via Pay-Pal here on my blog or contact me if you would like to give by cash or cheque/check.
If you would like more information on how you can pray and give
please email me at steph.reimer@gmail.com. Internet access has been very
limited but we just found an internet cafe this morning! I cannot tell
you how blessed I am to be able to check my email, text my family and
send out an update! :)
I would love to hear how I can be praying for you and/or rejoicing with you in what God is doing in your life!

LIBERDADE (Lee-ber-dajee) freedom, liberty; independence, latitude; loose
The Liberdade Initiative: Exodus Cry
seeks to mobilize a 24/7 prayer room within the red-light areas in each
of the 12 host cities that will pray for 31 days, the entirety of the
World Cup, for the ending of sex trafficking and spiritual awakening in
the nation. Out of this 24/7prayer reality, intervention teams will be
sent into the red-light areas to reach out to those being exploited.
