Grindz Cafe

I'm blogging from a cute little cafe called Grindz in Tauranga. I'm drinking a chai tea and trying to get caught up on some emails! I'm sorry for my lack of contact and updates! If you have emailed me and I haven't emailed you back or if I promised an email to you and you haven't received it yet, it's because the internet on the base has been finicky and my schedule has been quite busy. I'm hoping to get into the "grove" of base life soon and get a sweet routine going on! Today my team was going to go on a tour of the city but it's cold and rainy so I ended up coming to a cafe with three other ladies on my team. I'm hoping to be productive :)

So far I think I'm adjusting well to life in New Zealand. It still doesn't feel real that I'm here but I'm hoping it will soon. This land is so beautiful and the people here are very friendly!

Here's what a typical day on my base looks like:
Wake up at 6 am (or anytime before then) and get ready. We have a 3 minute shower rule so getting ready doesn't take as long as it did in Winnipeg :) Breakfast is served at 7 and usually consists of cereal, toast and fruit. Lectures start at 8 and go till noon-ish. Lunch is served at 12:30 and work duties usually start after lunch is over. I'm currently on housekeeping duties and am thankful for clean bathrooms daily. Depending on the day we'll either have classes in the evening or time in the Tauranga House of Prayer! I am absolutely LOVING this House of Prayer! It feels like home. And like Sanctuary is incredibly hot (currently), so THOP is cold! I've been wearing layers to the prayer room because they call it the "refrigerator". Bed time is at 10:00 pm and I try and have my lights out by 10:30. Sleep has been a rare commodity lately as my body doesn't know how to sleep here yet. But it's slowly learning!

I'm very excited about this coming week because our "real" schedule starts. Most of orientation will be over and we'll be spending more time in the House of Prayer! YAY!

Have a blessed week!
